Description
In the mid 1940’s it became necessary to study characteristics of aerodynamics and aircraft at transonic and supersonic speeds. Work on such an aircraft – named ‘5’ – took place in 1945-48 under the leadership of M.R. Bisnovata. During its flight tests was the first time the USSR had studied the swept wings concept and collected practical experience which was used in the creation of new high-speed aircrafts.
