Description
Despite the Mk.II being accepted for service it was still really a prototype and unreliable; development and modifications continued apace through its service life and they were virtually rebuilt as faults came to light. The Mk.II was still a shock to the Russians and the Chieftain remained the most powerful NATO tank for most of the Cold War.
