Description
The supersonic interceptor aircraft F-104 Starfighter was one of the most famous aircraft in history. It entered service in the '50s and served around the world until 2004. "A" variants were used by the USAF as supersonic interceptors for stopping Soviet bombers. Improved "C" versions were fighter-bombers used early in the Vietnam War. The extremely thin, small, straight mid-mounted, trapezoidal wings and a powerful, reliable General Electric J-79 turbojet engine guaranteed outstanding supersonic performance.
