Description
The F4U-1D Corsair was a fighter aircraft utilized by the US Navy and Marines in the air war in the Pacific. The engine was mounted in a double wasp configuration, considered revolutionary for an air-cooled engine of its time. In order to make full use of its power, a propeller with blades measuring a long 3.82 meters in diameter was mounted, and it was in order to provide a sufficient distance between this very large propeller and the ground that the wings were designed in the inverted gull shape that is characteristic of the Corsair.
