Description
Still the highest flying and fastest of all armed military aircraft nearly fifty years after it was designed, the MiG-25 Foxbat was a source of great consternation amongst NATO countries at the height of the Cold War. Satellite photos at the time only showed them that the aircraft had an extremely large wing structure. NATO leaders feared that the aircraft was a new, highly maneuverable air superiority fighter until a defector flew a MiG-25 into Japan where its true role (interceptor) was discovered.
