Description
The Soviet Tupolev Design Bureau (now Russia United Airlines Group) produced the Tu-22, the first supersonic bomber. It was developed to make up for the insufficient assault capabilities of its predecessor, the Tu-16. It officially joined the Soviet Air Force in 1962. Total production exceeded 300 aircraft and included exports to Libya and Iraq.
