Description
In 2005 US troops were still being steadily deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Although the numbers were regularly released regarding Afghanistan deployments, all that is known in the mainstream about Iraq numbers is that they increased yearly until 2016. There is an official cap for how many can be sent to each nation, and the cap for Iraq was 5,262. This number was reported annually, but many troops who were there were not counted as part of the total for various technical reasons. Troops deployed for less than 120 days, special forces troops and relief troops are among these. Approximately 850 US troop casualties occurred in 2005 in Iraq. This number encompassed all branches of US service, including the Army.
