Independence represents the U.S. light carrier developed from a cruiser hull. Its long flight deck and offset island make a clear visual contrast with a gun-armed cruiser of the same scale. It works well as the center of a compact carrier group with escorts.

Working with the Standard edition

Start with the Standard release if you want to plan the finish and decide separately where to add fine detail. Check the instructions for the parts supplied with this specific kit. Compare the Deluxe edition (VEE7024E) when deciding which version to build.

Product details

Manufacturer — Vee Hobby

SKU — VEE7024S

Scale — 1/700

Subject — USS Independence CVL-22

Ship class — Independence class

Edition — Standard

Configuration — World War II-era subject

Format — Unassembled plastic model kit

Finishing supplies — Model paint and cement sold separately

Build and display notes

Check that the flight deck sits flat before detailing the island.
