Product features and specifications

The Der Red Max rocket model is a classic, fun addition to any rocket enthusiast's collection. With a large stable design, this rocket performs great and reaches heights of over 500 feet with standard engines. Featuring laser cut wood fins for improved performance and a waterslide decal set, including the iconic skull and crossbones, this rocket is a must-have.

You'll need some basic tools and finishing supplies to build it, but the result is a 16-inch tall rocket that looks as good as it flies. To launch Max, you'll need Estes model rocket engines, starters, and recovery wadding, as well as the Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad and Electron Beam Launch Controller. Don't forget to grab some AA batteries for the launch controller, and get ready to blast off!

Plan the complete rocketry project

Review the build requirements and supplied contents before starting. Check the instructions for the exact recommended engine, compatible launch equipment and any recovery supplies needed. Published altitude figures are estimates under the stated conditions, not guaranteed flight results. Follow the supplied instructions and appropriate model rocketry safety guidance when preparing and flying the completed model.
