Vee Hobby USS Houston CL-81 1944 Standard 1/700 Model Kit - VEE7021S

Build the USS Houston CL-81 1944 with this Vee Hobby 1/700 Standard Edition plastic ship model kit. This 1944 subject is the Cleveland-class light cruiser that screened carriers and took part in Pacific operations including the Marianas campaign. Use the CL-81 hull number when choosing reference photos. Earlier Houston photographs often show the different CA-30 ship.

Working with the Standard edition

Start with the Standard release if you want to plan the finish and decide separately where to add fine detail. Check the instructions for the parts supplied with this specific kit. Compare the Deluxe edition (VEE7021E) when deciding which version to build.

Build and display notes

Work from a 1944 photograph when deciding on camouflage and deck colors. Fit the deck and superstructure first, then paint the stacks and smaller gun positions separately where it improves brush access. In a fleet display, leave room around the hull so the deck layout reads clearly from above.
