Plan Connections in a Small Framework

Check the component size, shape and listed contents against the stock you want to connect. Lay out the assembly before fixing the joints so you can evaluate alignment and access. Follow the product guidance for the specific component; dimensions and compatibility need to be checked together.

Measure Before Cutting

Compare the listed dimensions with the part or drawing you are working from. Select a cutting or forming tool appropriate to the metal and size, and plan how the stock will be held while you work. Check the cut ends and any required cleanup before test-fitting the part to the model.
