Academy USS Kitty Hawk 1/800 Scale Model Kit

Academy USS Kitty Hawk 1/800 Scale Model Kit brings USS Kitty Hawk to your workbench in 1/800 scale. The Kitty Hawk carrier subject offers a long flight deck and island layout for a modern naval display.

Planning the build

Plan deck markings before fitting small details. Check the hull centerline and flight-deck edges throughout assembly to keep the ship straight.

Working in 1/800 scale

Use the stated scale when comparing the completed model with other subjects. For a ship, the hull length and arrangement of the decks can vary greatly between vessels in the same scale. Plan the display before assembly and use fine paint layers around smaller fittings to preserve their definition.

Painting and display

Plan the hull, deck and upperworks as a sequence of subassemblies where the instructions allow. Paint hard-to-reach areas before installing adjacent fittings. Use the kit marking guide for the intended ship and period, then check the finished assembly along its centerline before adding the last delicate details.
