Revell Paint

Revell Model Paints and Finishes

Find the Revell paint format called for in your kit instructions. Aqua Color is the water-based acrylic bottle range, Email Color is the enamel tin range and Spray Color is the aerosol range. Shop by the five-digit Revell article number, shade and sheen to distinguish colors with similar names.

Choose the paint system first

Start with Aqua Color for a water-based brush or airbrush workflow. Choose Email Color when you prefer the enamel format and have its compatible reducer. Reach for Spray Color for larger surfaces such as a model car body, hull or wing where an aerosol is convenient. Test the primer and paint together before coating the model.

Match the color to the finish

A matte camouflage shade, a silk equipment color and a gloss car color can read very differently under display lighting. Use clear gloss or matte to control sheen. Use transparent tints to color a lens while retaining translucency, and compare adjacent metal tones to separate panels and hardware.

Plan thinning, cleanup and layering

Match the reducer to the formula. Revell Aqua Color Mix is for Aqua Color, while Revell Color Mix is for Email Color enamel. Keep the two paints separate when mixing, and test any layers you intend to apply over one another after the underlying finish has dried. Follow the can directions for aerosols.
