Mission Models Standard Rust – Acrylic weathering color
Standard Rust belongs to the Mission Models MMW weathering range. Choose rust and dust colors for wear on armor, vehicles and diorama details. This range includes both weathering colors and the separate Transparent Medium.
Why choose this product?
- Water-based acrylic color for brush detail work and airbrushing
- Part of the Mission Models paint system, with compatible primers, reducer and clears
- Use a test swatch to judge the dry shade over your chosen primer
Recommended Mission Models workflow
- Prepare a sample with the same paint and Mission Models clear coats as your model.
- Work locally. Compare the effect in a small area before extending it to the surrounding finish.
- Judge the dry result. Use the same lighting and viewing distance as the finished display.
Where it fits in your build
Place Standard Rust around worn edges, chipped fittings and seams where moisture would collect. Start locally and leave more of the underlying metal visible on exposed faces.

Frequently asked questions
Can I apply this color with a brush?
Yes. Use a brush for small details and touch-ups, and test the coverage before adding a second coat.
What thinner should I use for airbrushing?
Use Mission Models Thinner / Reducer to adjust the paint as needed. Start with the manufacturer’s directions and adjust for your setup.
Is Polyurethane Intermix required?
It is optional for standard color coats. It can extend working time and alter the sheen, so compare a dry swatch before committing to a large panel.
