Vee Hobby 1/700 Aircraft Carrier Model Kits

Build USS Independence CVL-22 as a compact U.S. Navy carrier display in 1/700 scale. The Independence class was developed from cruiser hulls, giving this light carrier a narrow profile beneath its long flight deck. Vee Hobby offers Standard and Deluxe editions of the subject.

Build around the flight deck

Test-fit the flight deck, hull and island before securing the large assemblies. Decide which areas to paint separately, and plan the order of deck masking and markings before installing nearby detail parts. Match period reference photos to the configuration you want to represent.

Put together a task force

Use a Vee Hobby light cruiser and a Vee Hobby battleship in the same scale to show the contrast between a flight deck, a screening ship and a heavy surface combatant. Check the exact edition for box contents and the kit instructions for the assembly sequence.
