Shop Tamiya Surface Primers at MegaHobby. Compare the available products by range, application and the role they will play in your next scale-model project.
Choose the range for the task
Primers support surface preparation before color coats. Aerosol Fine Surface Primer and bottled Liquid Surface Primer are different formats with their own handling requirements. Inspect the surface, address seams and test the preparation before committing to a final color.
Test the complete finish
Prepare a sample using the primer, color and final coating you intend to combine. Evaluate the dried appearance before masking or adding decals. The underlying surface and final sheen affect the result, and a familiar color name does not guarantee an exact match across different paint systems.
Plan the workbench sequence
A model car body, aircraft camouflage finish, military vehicle interior or scenic detail can call for different tools and application methods. Begin with the subject and the actual materials, then choose the products for preparation, application and cleanup. Follow each product’s directions for compatibility and drying or curing time.
